About Massage & Myotherapy

Stress, incorrect posture, repetitive movements, exercise, heavy lifting and general movements and activities undertaken at work or at home can cause tight, stiff and sore muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. These structures may then pull joints out of alignment, lead to compensation by other muscles or areas of the body and cause you to form bad habits. This in turn causes pain, reduces movement and flexibility, lowers circulation and promotes fatigue all while making you more susceptible to injury.

Massage (in particular Myotherapy and Remedial) is a proven treatment which should be undertaken by a trained professional and aims to balance the soft tissues and realign the body.
Myotherapy involves assessment of muscular injury and dysfunction, followed by the application of various modalities aimed at treating the cause and symptoms of pain, discomfort and reduced movement.

Through the use of deep tissue massage, dry needling, myofascial release, stretching and heat therapies and also exercise/stretching prescription, corrective postural and movement advice and self-care pointers we aim to rehabilitate the condition and prevent further damage or injury.
In some cases referral to another healthcare professional may be necessary.
